27th Feb 2010...our twins 4th Birthday Bash

Well that day finally came after months of preparation. We held the boys 4th Birthday Bash at the Birdpark in Hornbill Restaurant. We had the bird tour before the cake cutting with some of the guests that have arrived on time.... which i was beginning to think after 10 mins of walking was not such a good idea after all... due to the extremely humid and heaty day ...we were like bathing in sweat. And after a while the boys were starting to get cranky because of the humidity of course but i think they did enjoy part of the tour which was the bird show...thank god for the giant fan there. After the bird show everybody was rushing to get back to the restaurant...i myself could not wait to get back to the restaurant...boy was i thirsty. Anyhow even after i was back to the restaurant i was still sweating like crazy which made the cake cutting session a very uncomfortable one. And the boys were totally not in the mood to make their thank you speech to the guest but luckily halfway through Nabil stepped up and finish the their thank you note. So when the time came for the clown to do his magic show i was surprised to see there were very few kids gathered around maybe just 12 (minus babies and toddlers)....wow what a crowd....so the magic show turned out to be kinda boring....sigh...sigh...plus the jokes were not making anybody laugh...sigh..sigh...i guess everybody was just crazy tired after a the long heaty tour. Well it was long to me eventhough it was just for an hour. We also didn't get to have games for the kids because the party was coming to an end as we started the tour late waiting for our guest to arrive..everything had to be pushed back. So lesson learnt ....below are the don'ts when planning a birthday party:

1) Don't have outdoor tour unless the whole tour area are air conditioned. Our weather here just does not permit us to have long leisure walks in the park. Its just gonna drain all the energy out especially when you gonna have a party soon.

2) Just have the party in the restaurant don't get excited eventhough the package includes tour unless its indoor of course.

3) Invite all friends with kids and expand a wee bit on your budget for the party. You wanna have a lively party and not spend all that to have a boring one with mostly adults. If you do.. you might as well don't.

4) Don't be over ambitious and make to 2 cakes at one time especially if you're an amateur hahaha ...a note to me...
All in all it was kind of a successful party for a first timer planning a birthday party. Will try better next year. Insyaalah...Thank you god for blessing us with beautiful boys and enabling us to afford all the good things in life.
