27th Feb 2010...our twins 4th Birthday Bash

Well that day finally came after months of preparation. We held the boys 4th Birthday Bash at the Birdpark in Hornbill Restaurant. We had the bird tour before the cake cutting with some of the guests that have arrived on time.... which i was beginning to think after 10 mins of walking was not such a good idea after all... due to the extremely humid and heaty day ...we were like bathing in sweat. And after a while the boys were starting to get cranky because of the humidity of course but i think they did enjoy part of the tour which was the bird show...thank god for the giant fan there. After the bird show everybody was rushing to get back to the restaurant...i myself could not wait to get back to the restaurant...boy was i thirsty. Anyhow even after i was back to the restaurant i was still sweating like crazy which made the cake cutting session a very uncomfortable one. And the boys were totally not in the mood to make their thank you speech to the guest but luckily halfway through Nabil stepped up and finish the their thank you note. So when the time came for the clown to do his magic show i was surprised to see there were very few kids gathered around maybe just 12 (minus babies and toddlers)....wow what a crowd....so the magic show turned out to be kinda boring....sigh...sigh...plus the jokes were not making anybody laugh...sigh..sigh...i guess everybody was just crazy tired after a the long heaty tour. Well it was long to me eventhough it was just for an hour. We also didn't get to have games for the kids because the party was coming to an end as we started the tour late waiting for our guest to arrive..everything had to be pushed back. So lesson learnt ....below are the don'ts when planning a birthday party:

1) Don't have outdoor tour unless the whole tour area are air conditioned. Our weather here just does not permit us to have long leisure walks in the park. Its just gonna drain all the energy out especially when you gonna have a party soon.

2) Just have the party in the restaurant don't get excited eventhough the package includes tour unless its indoor of course.

3) Invite all friends with kids and expand a wee bit on your budget for the party. You wanna have a lively party and not spend all that to have a boring one with mostly adults. If you do.. you might as well don't.

4) Don't be over ambitious and make to 2 cakes at one time especially if you're an amateur hahaha ...a note to me...
All in all it was kind of a successful party for a first timer planning a birthday party. Will try better next year. Insyaalah...Thank you god for blessing us with beautiful boys and enabling us to afford all the good things in life.

Maids problem

its certainly has been a while since my last blog....well for the past 2 months or so my maid went back to her hometown and i am left with a borrowed maid a temporary loan from my mum with no experience whatsoever in taking care of my little ones. So i'm looking after her and my kids as well, as she doesn't seem too keen on taking care of kids. Plus her constant being sick shows that she does not want to be here. Well now the old maid is back more time to suft the net and other things. Yippee yee.....

Sweet Nazriel

So the other day...it was on a Sunday all of us went to my MIL's house. And we were watching (mummy and the twins) TV. So i had asked Nazriel to sit on my lap and wanted to hug him but he wouldn't stay put and didn't seem to want me to hug him. So i said to Nazriel" Ajer sit laa with mummy...mummy cold" i was really cold...it was raining plus the air -con was on as my hubby can't live without it... then he said " mummy cold". And he went down from my lap and went behind the chair where i was sitting towards the bed where he had placed his blankie....took the blankie came over to me and started to cover me up....and i felt that it was such a thoughtful thing coming from a 3 year old and thats why i'm writing this down so that i'll remember this sweet moment forever.

Since the twins started preschool

Nabil & Nazriel is now 3 years n 5 months

Before the boys started preschool their English kinda suck big time.......and as much as i tried conversing in English to teach them some english words they would always reply back in BM. This happens because everybody in the family their Tok, Opah, Tok Ayah, Nenek, cousins, bibik and including their daddy speaks to them in BM. You can see how difficult it was to have them reply something in english. Not that i'm against apeaking in BM...i'm fine with that too but i would like my kids to know more than one language at this age. If mummy didn't push daddy to send the twins to school now.. they would've been stuck at BM. Now that they have started school after five months i can see a lot improvements...yeah..mummy's really proud.

Here some English words that i've heard from them so far :

  • Good afternoon teachers

  • wonderful - Nabil

  • mummy so cute - Nazriel

  • i think

  • are you sure

  • soooo nice

  • thank you, please mummy - Nazriel likes to use this a lot when he wants sumthing

  • so high, so big

  • yes mummy

  • come, lets go

  • i'm coming

  • they can new sing a complete twinkle2x little star on their own

  • i cannot see

  • abil hungry

  • they now know all colors and numbers 1-11 in english
  • thirsty
  • see you later
  • surprise

Decor class-Mermaid

Last week on Saturday i went for a figurine modelling class at Jaya One. I really had fun and enjoyed doing figurine work. I'm hoping to go for another class. Next class would be on fairies. At first i had wanted to go for the fairy class but it was on a weekday. And the twins have started their school after a 2 weeks school break. Even so i'm very happy with the class and the mermaid looked so pretty.

My latest cuppy design

These cuppies were a request from my mom for my cousin's wedding gift to his bride. She asked for a flowery decorations on the cuppy but I went an extra mile and made a teddy bear holding a heart....i thought it looked sooo cute. The wedding was held yesterday on Saturday (20/6/09). Theme color was blue but the cuppy looks more purpleish doesn't it.

Getting ready to go to Mid Valley. Mummy's gonna get a laptop from daddy. Yayyyyy

Shopping

Me boys and i went out shopping at One Utama. The boys got some Poney shirts, i got myself a new sandal, Rory the racing car carpet for the boys playroom, and bibik got some Barney's VCD for her cousin's kids. After all that Nabil looks so bored.....as for Nazriel he said he could not sit on the stroller as he needed to do his "ucuk poopy" business. He looks so cute doing his bzness.

Ms Daisy

Everybody introducing y'al to miss daisy. Just wanted to try out something different a figurine. I think the head and hair looks fine. But need to go for a lesson in figurine modelling as i have no idea how to do her body and she's missing a hand. I kept gluing it back over and over again and it keeps falling off all the time. And i'm like what the hell and so this is how she's gonna be. wahkaka

The only part

This is the only area that i like in my house.....the ceiling and the chandelier.

Decor time

These are my fondant fun image.... a 2D mickey, elmo and big bird. But Mickey looks kinda weird....i think its his mouth...i can't seem to get it right..

Shoes no.4

On Saturday last week we went to Alamanda, Putrajaya for some shopping spree. And mummy decided to get the twins another pair of shoes each. This is their 4th shoes. Their first shoes was when they were almost 1 year old and the second one was at 2 years old. Nabil chose the blue strappy sandal and Nazriel chose the funky looking one.

Cake time

Yesterday i needed to bake a cake fast as my almost full whipped cream was entering its second week and i was afraid that it would go sour. I wanted to bake this cake for a while now and i just could not find the right mood and time to do it. And so the right time came just because of the whipped cream. This is a genoise cake and strawberry whipped cream (i didn't use strawberry fruit like the recipe calls for ...too expensive... i sub it with strawberry emulco). Well the cake rosed up beautifully and it was soft and light.. like that sponge cake. And i believe i have found my sponge cake.
Here's the recipe for genoise cake:

1/3 cup of cake flour
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
3 eggs
3 egg yolks
3/4 cup granulated sugar
pinch of salt

1)Preheat at 180C
2)Sift cake flour, cornstarch and cocoa
3)Beat together whole eggs, egg yolks, sugar and salt at medium speed
4)Place over simmering water. Remove
4)Increase speed to high
5)Add dry ingredients in 3 additions
6)Bake for 30 mins
7)Cool in pan for 10 mins
8)Loosen the edge and invert cake onto rack.
